Every year during the first two weeks of September, while the harvest throughout the island is taking place, Madeira celebrates its Wine Festival.

There is a lot happening during the festival, as locals and tourists mix in a wonderful celebration of the island’s famous and precious wine! Do not forget, Madeira is an island with the name of a Wine and a Wine with the name of an Island.

Here are the main events you might be interested in:

• Madeira Wine Festival Entertainment in downtown Funchal 31st August to 17th September – plenty of stuff happening on the streets
• Madeira Wine Lounge 31st August to 17th September – a place where you can taste all the wines produced on the island
• Concerts in the Vineyards 9 th , 10th,16th and 17th September – drinking wine in the vineyards, with some great live music
• Live Harvest in Estreito de Câmara de Lobos 9 th September – not to be missed! This is where all the locals gather to celebrate the end of the Harvest! Its so much fun, you’ll even get to squash some grapes with your feet!
